i'm kind of obsessed with my boy scouts shirt

hi guys! this is my new boy scouts shirt, courtesy of the goodwill. ;) basically since i went thrifting crazy in high school, i've been dreaming of finding one of these. but, since i sort of stopped looking through the children's section after i graduated high school, my chances got unlikely. lately i've been looking through the dresses for avery, and this guy was tucked in there just waiting for me! it's a little bigger than i would prefer but dude. whatever. i don't know what any of the little patches mean, because i'm not sure if boy scouts and girl scouts patches are similar.. regardless, i love it!! this is how i wore it the first time:

necklace: cm via local honey in nashville
tank top: ae
boy scouts shirt: goodwill
shorts: old ae
socks: austin's
boots: vintage justins, via etsy

even though i sorta hate wearing white tights, i LOVE when i remember to break out these boots. they are one of my greatest etsy purchases to date and they were sized wrong on etsy (they said women's 5, but really they're little boy's 5)! so really i should not have bought them.. at all. but i did, because i was so obsessed, and they fit perfectly.. because a child's 5 is a woman's 7. :)

i keep saying it, but my day off outfits are a little more ridiculous than my regular "work clothes" (not that those aren't my personal style, either) and i tend to have a little more fun with them. for work, i'm excited to wear the boy scouts shirt over a dress, with skirts, tucked into jeans with a cardi or a scarf, etc etc etc..

possibilities are endless and i'm so excited!

favorite unnecessary thrift finds

sometimes, being a serial thrifter isn't so great. i find things that I HAVE TO HAVE OMG but really don't need. luckily, i usually have someone with me (austin or becca, generally) who can give me a clear idea of whether one should outweigh the other.

enter these p e r f e c t books.

so, they're clearly for children (the spines all say "the bookshelf for boys & girls"), but they're GORGEOUS. i could have taken pictures of every single cover and every single page, but i limited myself.

the covers are sort of odd.. they're SO simplistic, and most of the drawings make little to no sense in the context of the books. they're beautiful, though, and colorful, and i would probably happily display every single one of them as art, if austin wouldn't think i was an insane person.

my favorite book is "things to make and do."

the cover is perfectly indicative of the wide variety of subjects covered within the book
there are chapters on making paper flowers, creating a puppet theater (including the puppets and the scripts), photography, sewing, making fabric badges, dancing, cooking, and the list goes on and on and on. the table of contents for this one is like 4 pages long.

needless to say, this is one of the i ACTUALLY have to have this finds, and i ended up bringing it home. austin agreed that all of the books together were magical. and while i can sometimes sucker myself into buying vintage children's books by promising i'm collecting them for avery, i'm planning on keeping these to myself (just in case...).

do you ever find things that you honestly cannot make a decision about while thrifting? <3

sunny sundays

today was the first day since nashville that austin and i have had off together. so we had big plans: laundry. all day. like 5 loads. thankfully, those plans were postponed (for a couple of hours) so that we could stop by an estate sale. i mostly like estate sales because i think i'm kind of a creep?, but also because they're awesome places to shop a little for the store/my life. i ended up with a lot of adorable vintage kids' clothes, a handbag, some pretty books, a pink/white striped crocheted blanket, and an embroidered wall hanging. austin was the clear winner today, because he found a working/perfect record player for $8.

i use days off to dress up a little bit more than i can do for work, too, so i thought today would be a good day to start outfit pictures!! austin took these, and i think it's really obvious how new we both are to the concept of outfit pictures. ;) here's to hoping we get better as time goes on!

throughout the day, i was told what a good "church-going" outfit this was, as well as that i was reminiscent of "1970s dolly parton." neither of those compliments(?) wholly resonate to me (in regards to this outfit..), but i'll take em both.

sunglasses: uo
necklace: CM via local honey
top: target
cardigan: american eagle
belt: american eagle (similar)
skirt: thrifted
shoes: crochet toms

tonight, i'm planning on going to visit my grandma while austin has band practice. then i'm hoping we'll meet back up here for a little ice cream date before bed. :)

hope you had a good weekend. <3
